To locate Old Basset Cottage and Wheal Basset Farm on any large-scale map of the area, find the road connecting Porthtowan and Mount Hawke (SSW of St Agnes on the North Coast). The farm is just west of the point where the road forks into two.
Take the main road through Cornwall (A30) and follow it until you have passed the signs to Perranporth.
After a few miles you come to a large roundabout, Chiverton Cross (you should see a Starbucks ahead and to your right as you approach the roundabout). Take the third exit for the B3277, the St Agnes road.
With Starbucks on your left you will come to a small roundabout, take the third exit signposted to St. Agnes.
Follow this for a few hundred yards, passing the Chiverton Arms pub on the right, take the next left sign posted Mount Hawke/Skinners Bottom.
Follow this road and take the first sharp right hand turn.
Stay on the road until you reach the village of Mount Hawke (a distance of one and a half miles).
After passing the church on the left you will come to a crossroads. Go straight across.
Continue until you reach a T-junction at the bottom of a steep hill, make sure you turn right here (satnav may try to direct you to turn left!).
Take first left turn into Wheal Basset Farm lane. The farmhouse and cottage are at the end of this lane past the pond.
